Our story begins in April of 2017 with a single idea - create products that create change. We are two life-long best friends who are passionate about empowering others to get out of their comfort zone, live sustainably, and Resist their Forty.
We grew up in the same neighborhood in southern New Jersey, and spent our time playing sports, exploring in the woods, and spending many nights talking about a business that we would one day start.
We wanted to create something that would not only succeed financially, but would leave an impact far beyond our time. We established Resist Forty as something bigger than ourselves, that would change our communities, who will ultimately change our world.
We are a lifestyle brand dedicated to empowering others to take back our oceans and challenging individuals to create a life they are passionate about.
We have two main focuses: living sustainably and empowering the pursuit of passions.
Our first focus, living sustainability, centers on creating sustainable products from ocean plastics, recycled materials, and by other environmentally conscious processes. It is our goal to prevent harmful materials from finding its way into our oceans. At Resist Forty, we believe our ocean is both a privilege and a gift. It was here long before us, and we plan to make sure it will be here long after we are gone. We are committed to passing on our oceans cleaner than we found them through the allocation of our time, resources, and partnerships with other activists.
At the heart of Resist Forty you'll find our second focus - empowering the pursuit of passions. We are strong believers in the words of Henry Ford, "Whether you think you can or you can't - you're right." We believe in the potential of people. We believe that some of the greatest ideas have yet to be developed. We not only seek to create something around our passions, but empower and equip others to pursue theirs as well. Our podcast, Resist Forty: Tales of Outliers, is one of the ways we are doing this. We all have ideas, and just the same, we all struggle at times to execute around those ideas. Our sole intention with the podcast is to help others not only identify the passions that they have, but to equip them to begin building a life around those passions.
At the core of our company, and embodying the very principle of Resist Forty, we believe there is always more we can be doing, and we are striving to help others Resist their Forty.
Here at Resist Forty we live by the 40% rule. Made popular by a former Navy Seal, this principle challenges individuals to push past their limits and exit their comfort zone. When you hit that wall, when you're ready to toss in the towel, when your mind is telling you "quit" and your body is saying "enough," you’re really only at forty percent. There is more that you can be doing, but it often will require you to get outside of your comfort zone.
In our lives, we have the opportunity to Resist our Forty every day. There is always more that we can be doing - whether it’s an extra set at the gym, putting in late night hours building your business, ensuring that you are supporting companies that are in line with your morals and beliefs, and making decisions to develop and grow as an individual. We believe that you never "arrive" at your 100 percent. Instead, we believe in constantly pushing ourselves to get better, and to enjoy the journey every day.
